Engine (Power)
Under the 2024 Encore GX Preferred's hood sits a 1.2-liter Turbo engine featuring an output of 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. The Sport Touring and Avenir feature a 1.3-liter Turbo engine, available for the Preferred, that generates 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Both engines feature a selectable start/stop system that cuts off the engine at stop signs and red lights, helping the Encore GX conserve fuel. When properly equipped, the Encore GX can tow 1,000 pounds.
Performance
The 2024 Encore GX comes standard with an agile front-wheel-drive system and a continuously variable transmission. If you go with a model featuring the 1.3-liter Turbo engine, you can outfit your Encore GX with an all-wheel-drive system. This feature constantly monitors all four wheels to make the necessary adjustments to help you stay in control in low-traction conditions like wet roads. Buick pairs the all-wheel drive with a nine-speed automatic transmission that delivers seamless, straightforward acceleration.
