The GMC Sierra 1500 full-size pickup truck is not only capable, it has a high-end look and feel. GMC offers it with a choice of cab and bed sizes and in several trim levels. For the 2023 model year, the Sierra 1500 has a new AT4X off-road trim level with extra equipment for when you want to hit the trails. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Sierra 1500 Pro comes with 17-inch steel wheels, LED headlights, and heated side exterior mirrors. The SLE adds to this with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED bed lighting, and a trailer hitch receiver. Step up to the Elevation for 20-inch wheels and LED fog lights or the SLT for 18-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim elements, and heated, power-folding side mirrors. The AT4 has all-terrain tires, skid plates, and recovery hooks, and the AT4X adds a sunroof and adaptive dampers. Choose the Denali or Denali Ultimate for side steps and a spray-in bedliner.
Engine (Power)
You'll have a choice of engines with the GMC Sierra 1500. The first is a 2.7-liter turbo four-cylinder with 310 horsepower, or you can get a 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder diesel with 277 horsepower. A 5.3-liter V-8 with 355 horsepower is also available, or you can get the 6.2-liter V-8 that puts out 420 horsepower. Rear-wheel drive comes standard with most trims, and four-wheel drive is optional for any model.
Performance
Any of the engines provides the Sierra 1500 with plenty of power, and they all work with a 10-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with the tow package, this truck can pull up to 13,200 pounds and carry a 2,240 payload. The ride in the Sierra is smooth over most roads, and the Denali's adaptive ride control for the suspension smooths it out even more.
Interior
Depending on the cab size, you can fit up to six people in the Sierra 1500. The Pro comes with just the basics, including vinyl or cloth upholstery. Moving up the lineup adds more features, such as leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and getting to the Denali gets you heated front and second-row seats, ventilated front seats, and a power-adjustable steering wheel.
Some of the tech you can get in this truck includes a 13.4-inch touch screen, a digital instrument panel, 120-volt power outlets, satellite radio, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A wireless charging pad is also available.
Safety Features
Every 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 comes with a forward collision warning system, automatic braking, lane-keep assist, and a rearview camera. The AT4 adds a safety alert seat, automatic rear braking, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and a trailer blind-spot monitor. Step up to the AT4X for a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and a virtual rearview mirror camera that allows you to see out the back even when you have a full load. The Denali Ultimate comes standard with GMC's Super Cruise hands-free driving technology, and you can add this to the Denali.
