For the 2022 model year, Buick has two Encores available, the original extra-small SUV and the slightly larger and more luxurious Encore GX. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Buick Encore GX is available in three trim levels: Preferred, Select, and Essence. The Preferred has alloy wheels and heated outside mirrors to start the trims out. Moving up to the Select adds roof rails and a remote engine start to warm your GX up on those cold winter days. The Essence has LED headlights to guide you down the road. No matter which trim you choose, you're sure to turn heads as you pass others on the road.
Engine (Power)
The Preferred and Select trims have a standard 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). This combination gets you 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. For the Essence, you get a 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a CVT on the front-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission on the all-wheel drive. You can expect 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque from this engine. With an estimated 29 mpg for the city and 32 mpg for highway driving, you can spend more time on the road during family road trips.
Performance
Today's drivers love performance-enhancing features, so Buick has added them to the Encore GX. Front-wheel drive is standard, but you can change that to an all-wheel drive on all three trims to provide more control over various weather and road conditions. The stop/start system will help conserve fuel economy by shutting the engine down when idling. You can bring along some toys for your weekend adventures, thanks to the 1,000-pound towing capacity.
Interior
When you take your place behind the wheel of the 2022 Buick Encore GX, you'll notice that you're surrounded by comfort and convenience features, wrapped up in luxury. The Preferred has keyless entry and ignition, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and cloth/imitation leather upholstery. You also get a six-speaker audio system, Wi-Fi hot spot, an 8-inch touch screen with satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The Cold Weather Comfort package adds a power-adjustable driver's seat and heated front seats.
The Select comes standard with the features of the Cold Weather package, plus dual-zone automatic climate control and a rear armrest. You get an in-cabin air ionizer, heated steering wheel, driver's seat memory settings, power-adjustable passenger seat, and leather upholstery in the Essence.
Safety Features
Buick wants you to drive confidently and has added a plethora of safety and driver-assistance features. Standard features include lane departure mitigation and forward collision mitigation. Additional features include a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, a rearview camera integrated with a rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, and an automated parking system. If you're involved in a collision, the advanced air bag system will work hard to protect you and your passengers.
